Kevin Nash On Becky Lynch: “I Think Her Run’s Over. I Think She’s Grasping At Desperation”

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has offered his take on Becky Lynch’s recent promo in Birmingham, England, where she referenced the passing of Ozzy Osbourne. Nash believes Lynch’s “run’s over.” The promo, which took place on the August 25th episode of Monday Night Raw, was designed to get heel heat from the UK crowd.

Lynch stated, “I’m not wrestling in Birmingham. The only good thing that came out of here died a month ago,” Lynch said to the crowd. “But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to LA, a proper city. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too.” The promo drew considerable online backlash, including strong comments from Ozzy’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, who called Lynch a “disrespectful dirtbag.”

“The Business Has Passed Her By”

Speaking on his Kliq This podcast with co-host Sean Oliver, Kevin Nash did not hold back in his take on the situation. He was critical of Lynch’s promo, viewing it as a sign of creative “desperation.”

“I think her run’s over. I think she’s grasping at desperation. I think the business has passed her by,” Nash said when asked whether the promo crossed the line. “I don’t think that she said anything that was derogatory to Ozzy.”

Kevin Nash’s Perspective

Nash also analyzed the promo from a business perspective. He stated that he doesn’t believe that kind of “cheap heat” is good for the WWE brand, especially when it involves a recently deceased and beloved public figure.

“I don’t see how they always say, ‘Oh, any kind of publicity is good publicity.’ I don’t know, man. I mean, when somebody passes and you fuck with the family. And the daughter is the one that makes the comment, I don’t think that’s exactly the look that the WWE or its shareholders, which I’m one of. I’m a TKO shareholder. I don’t particularly want that coming out of somebody’s mouth as a shareholder.”

It should be noted that the promo by Lynch was likely approved by people backstage at WWE and her words were meant to heel on the city and not Ozzy himself.

Lynch successfully defended her WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Nikki Bella at the Clash in Paris premium live event. You can hear Nash’s full thoughts on the latest episode of the Kliq This podcast.
