Kevin Nash Calls New Day’s WWE Pay Cut Request A ‘Slap In The Face’

Kevin Nash has come out firmly in support of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods following their WWE departure, calling the circumstances surrounding their exit a slap in the face.

Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Nash was asked whether the New Day made the right decision to leave WWE after being asked to restructure their contracts.

“Absolutely. They made their choice. Both of those guys have been there 16-17 years. Slap in the face. Both of those guys are my friends,” Nash said.

Kingston had been with WWE since 2006 and Woods since 2010. The two formed the New Day alongside Big E in 2014, going on to become one of the most decorated and beloved acts in company history. Both issued individual farewell statements on May 4 confirming their departures after the news broke on May 2.

Kingston and Xavier Woods mutually parted ways with WWE on May 2 after declining to accept pay cuts on a five-year contract they had signed just one year earlier. Multiple AEW talent, including the Young Bucks, FTR, MJF, Cash Wheeler, and now Strickland, have publicly reacted positively to the news, with many signaling their hope to eventually share the ring with them. AEW is widely expected to be their next destination once their 90-day non-compete clauses expire.
