WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash offered a specific creative critique of a recent WWE Raw opening segment, pointing out what he felt was a redundant promo between Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins. Speaking on his “Kliq This” podcast last week, Nash explained why he felt the segment didn’t need both men to say the same thing.
The discussion involved the main event angle on Raw, which opened with Seth Rollins’ faction, including Paul Heyman, in the ring. Nash was complimentary of Heyman’s role in setting the scene for the group.
“Paul does real good job of narration, of what you know, what they’re with,” Nash began, acknowledging Heyman’s skill as a mouthpiece. However, he felt the promo lost momentum when Rollins took the microphone immediately after.
“But then he turns around and gives it to Rollins, and Rollins basically redundantly says the exact same thing,” Nash critiqued. “Like either Paul… can’t call him the architect, and then he… I don’t need to hear it twice.”
To be clear, Nash’s critique focused on the structure of the segment rather than the performers.
