Kevin Nash has reacted to Mick Foley’s decision to cut ties with WWE, stating that while he understands his friend’s position, he will not be making the same move.
Foley recently announced that he would not renew his Legends contract with WWE due to the company’s association with Donald Trump and the McMahon family’s political ties. Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Nash addressed Foley’s departure and explained why he plans to stay.
“I understand it. And if that’s how Mick feels, it’s like, I get it from Mick’s standpoint,” Nash said. “But for me personally—because I had some people text me like, ‘Are you going to follow suit?’ I’m like, well, let me explain my position.”
Nash emphasized his deep personal connection to the McMahon and Levesque families, noting that they have treated him and his family with kindness for decades. He recalled how Paul “Triple H” Levesque was the first person from The Kliq to hold his son, Tristen, and how Linda McMahon was gracious to his wife during a visit to New York City in the 90s.
“I look at the McMahon-Levesque, I look at them as family,” Nash said. “Like, that’s it. They’re just family to me… they’re my Republican family.”
While Foley cited Trump’s “incredibly cruel” comments about Rob Reiner’s loss as the final straw, Nash viewed the rhetoric differently. He described his reaction to Trump’s comments not as outrage, but as boredom with the same old tactics.
“I understand Mick’s like, ‘This is all I can stand. I can’t stands no more.’ I understand that,” Nash said. “I was more of a, ‘Could you f**king grab another hold? Boring.’ That’s kind of the way I looked at it. Like, f**k, dude, boring. It doesn’t work anymore.”
Nash further explained that he separates his business relationship with WWE from the political figures involved. He insisted that the programming he sees on television does not reflect the political values that Foley is protesting.
“My deal is with the WWE. My deal isn’t with MAGA. My deal isn’t with Trump,” Nash said. “And I don’t see those sensibilities coming through my television screen when I watch Netflix and when I watch Raw and when I watch the Saturday Night’s Main Event.”
Ultimately, Nash concluded that leaving would only hurt his own financial situation without necessarily effecting change. “What am I supposed to do? I’m going to give up revenue? I’m going to give up revenue for what?”
