Kevin Nash On Curtain Call Incident: Triple H “Took The Bullet.” Shawn Michaels “Could Have Protected Him And Didn’t”

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash recently delved into the infamous 1996 “Curtain Call” incident at Madison Square Garden, sharing his perspective on how Triple H bore the brunt of the punishment while Shawn Michaels, then WWF Champion, largely avoided repercussions.

Speaking on his “Kliq This” podcast, Nash offered insights into the backstage dynamics. Nash stated plainly that Triple H was the one who faced the consequences.

“He took the bullet,” Nash said of Triple H. “Shawn could have protected him and didn’t.” However, Nash also noted that later, “when Shawn started to spiral through his personal demons, Paul [Levesque, Triple H] was there for him.”

The decision to punish Triple H while Michaels remained relatively unscathed led to dissatisfaction among other Kliq members. When asked if there was animosity over the situation, Nash confirmed, “Yeah. I think there was on all of our ends, because if anybody was untouchable, it was Shawn. Shawn was the champ. They were definitely going with him.”
