Kevin Nash pushed back against recent comments made by WWE CEO Nick Khan on Logan Paul’s podcast. Khan stated that Rey Mysterio was considered a “nothing” during his tenure in WCW. During a Q&A segment on his podcast, a listener asked Nash for his thoughts on Khan’s assessment, prompting the Hall of Famer to defend Mysterio’s WCW run.
Nash disagreed with the sentiment that Mysterio was undervalued, noting that at the time, WCW was the hottest property on cable television and was actively trying to create new stars. However, Nash admitted that his lack of wrestling history knowledge at the time led to a misunderstanding regarding the cultural significance of luchador masks.
“I didn’t know the significance of, you know, taking somebody’s mask off,” Nash explained, adding that he viewed Mysterio as a “good looking young kid” who could crossover into commercials and mainstream media without the mask.
Nash further defended Mysterio’s status in the company by pointing out that Mysterio holds a victory over him. He also critiqued the comparison between the WCW era and the current financial landscape of WWE.
“WCW… went out of business in… 2001. And it’s 2025… so you’ve had him for… 25 years,” Nash said. “I sure as fuck hope so… You got a fucking $5 billion fucking Netflix deal… He means more, really, there’s more eyes on him now. God, that Nick’s a fucking crafty fucking guy”.
