Kevin Nash: Triple H Basically Said, ‘You’re Not Wrestling’ CM Punk, ‘I’m Beating That Motherf**ker’

Kevin Nash has opened up about the real reason his scheduled match against CM Punk was cancelled in 2011. During the famous “Summer of Punk,” Nash returned to WWE at SummerSlam to cost Punk the WWE Championship, setting up a program between the two. However, the scheduled match at Night of Champions was abruptly changed, with Triple H replacing Nash and defeating Punk in a No Disqualification match.

Speaking on Kliq This, Nash revealed that a specific, off-script comment made by Punk during a promo segment infuriated Triple H (Paul Levesque). The comment, which referenced Triple H’s wife Stephanie McMahon, crossed a line that led to “The Game” inserting himself into the match.

“When I was supposed to wrestle CM Punk after I cost him the belt, he said something that pissed off Paul about something with him and Stephanie, Nash said. “And it wasn’t on script, and it pissed Paul off, and Paul came back and basically said, ‘You’re not wrestling Punk. I am. I’m beating that motherf**ker.’ He was that hot.”

He continued, “Paul isn’t a bitch. It was like, ‘Oh, okay, motherfucker.’ Basically, like, ‘Oh, okay, Kliq rules.’ Like, ‘You want to pull them out, measure them. Here we go. Suck on that.’ I know how fucking much Paul cares for him now, and to bring him back and everything that happened, and Paul to entrust Phil with everything that he’s done, and vice versa for each other….So that’s what people don’t understand, that aren’t in the business, is you can have that kind of fucking heat with somebody 10 years ago, four years ago, three years ago. But, when you got to make money and make music together, fucking how quickly that dissolves.”

Nash would eventually face Triple H in a “Sledgehammer Ladder Match” at TLC later that year.
