Kevin Owens Has Yet To Undergo Neck Surgery, In-Ring Return Not Guaranteed

Former WWE World Champion Kevin Owens has confirmed he still has not undergone neck surgery, despite announcing his in-ring hiatus approximately two months ago due to the injury.

In an interview with Bernard Colas for le10Sport, Owens revealed his doctor is taking a cautious approach.

“I still haven’t had the surgery. There’s a lot of things to consider before the surgery,” Owens stated. “We’re waiting to see how things progress naturally. There’s no doubt I need surgery, but before we do the surgery, we just have to see how much it can slightly improve without surgery… It’s a very slow process. You just have to have patience.”

Owens recalled learning about the severity just before WrestleMania 41. “We knew two days before I made the announcement on Smackdown, that I would not be able to be at WrestleMania and that I had to stop wrestling immediately.”

He feels “extremely lucky not to be injured more seriously” in matches at the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber, as his neck was already in “very bad shape.”

Regarding a potential return, Owens was candid: “It would be… false to be able to tell you right now that I will absolutely return to the ring… I don’t know if that’s true.”
