Kevin Owens: I Want Pyro That Would Say ‘Ballz,’ But ‘Selfish’ Cody Rhodes Needs All Of The Pyro

Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens’ history includes a rivalry that began in late 2024.

It started after Owens felt betrayed by Rhodes’ decision to team with Roman Reigns against the Bloodline, culminating in Owens’ attack on Rhodes after failing to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. They later worked several matches, including a December Saturday Night’s Main Event match and at the Royal Rumble, where Rhodes went over again in a brutal contest.

While doing a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez of Unlikely, Owens expressed a critical view of Rhodes’s pyro usage, suggesting it’s excessively selfish for his entrance. He thinks WWE blows the majority of its budget on it.

Owens stated, “He’s very selfish as well. The fact that he blows three-quarters of the WWE pyro budget every year keeps a lot of people from getting to have pyro for their entrances. For example, I’ve requested for years to have pyro added to my entrance. Remember Sycho Sid had the pyro, where it would say his name in the ring. I wanted the same thing, but instead of my name, I wanted it to say ‘Ballz.’ They won’t do it. They said Cody needs all the pyro. Very selfish and very excessive.”
