The ongoing feud between Kevin Owens and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes continues to build. After Rhodes beat Owens at Bash in Berline, Rhodes retained the WWE Championship against Owens again, this time in the main event of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
However, after the match, out of frustration, Owens attacked Rhodes, hitting him with two piledrivers. Rhodes was stretchered out of the arena.
He cut a promo before Owens put over Rhodes in a steel cage match in the headliner of Thursday’s WWE house show in Jacksonville, FL. During it, he noted that the Jacksonville fans have suffered a lot of trauma because of Rhodes for many years.
This was a reference to Rhodes’ AEW run, as they held shows in the city during the pandemic at Dailys Place. You can check out the full match below:
Owens stated, “Listen, I understand that Jacksonville suffered a lot of trauma because of Cody Rhodes because for many years, you guys had to put up with him, put up with him for almost every week. So I will do my best to help you heal by beating the hell out of Cody Rhodes.”
