Kevin Owens retains the WWE Universal Championship at Clash Of Champions

For those of you that missed the show, Kevin Owens retained the WWE Universal Championship in his match with Seth Rollins at WWE Clash Of Champions. Owens didn’t do it alone though. Chris Jerico ran down to ringside to help out his best friend as the referee was knocked out.

Seth Rollins was able to fight off both Owens and Jericho but the odds were too much for him. There were several times in the match when it looked like Rollins had the match won but Jericho would get involved or the referee would not be up for the pin. In the end, Stephanie McMahon came out and sent out a new referee but coincidentally that is when Owens got up and surprised Rollins by hitting the pop-up powerbomb.

That was the end of the show and Kevin Owens is still the WWE Universal Champion. It certainly looks like these two will have a rematch, possibly at next month’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. It would make sense to have them wrestle in the cell with the storyline being that Jericho wouldn’t be able to get involved in the match.
