WWE had plans to have Kevin Owens go back to NXT last year

Kevin Owens did an interview with Bleacher Report to promote this year’s WWE Draft.

During the interview, Owens revealed an interesting note about how WWE had plans in place for him to go back to NXT. However, those plans were nixed.

It should be noted that Owens did technically make an NXT return last year as he had a one-night comeback by being the mystery partner for Tommaso Ciampa, Donovan Dijak, and Keith Lee in the men’s WarGames Match at the NXT TakeOver: WarGames III event. However, he hasn’t been used in NXT since then.

Although not confirmed, it’s possible that a full-time return to NXT for Owens would’ve taken place around the time of this one-off appearance.

"Last year at some point, I was going back to NXT," he said. "It was all in motion and it was going to happen, and then it didn't. To say that's a thought that crossed my mind would be an understatement, but I would tell you right now that that's not the case anymore. That's just not where I'm at anymore. Now, I want to be on Raw or be on SmackDown and just fight like hell to create some memorable moments for everybody. That's all I want at this point."

Owens also talked about Vince McMahon, WWE potentially touring again, and more. Check out the full interview here.
