Kevin Owens segment pulled from WWE SmackDown

Last night, it was reported by Post Wrestling that a women’s tag team match was scheduled for the show but it was cut for time.

Liv Morgan was scheduled to team with Toni Storm against the team of Zelina Vega and Carmella and the women were in their gear and ready to wrestle when they got the word that their match would not happen.

Fightful reports that there was also a segment planned between Kevin Owens and Happy Corbin but that was cut out of the show during the afternoon. Instead, WWE had Corbin go out after SmackDown went off the air so he could get beat up by The Demon Finn Balor. WWE gave a lot of time to Seth Rollins and Edge and the Roman Reigns segments that bookended the show so that could be why Owens-Corbin and the women’s tag match were scrapped. As previously noted, Owens’ time in WWE could be winding down and he could be AEW-bound.

As far as the women’s match, Vega trended on Twitter last night because of the feeling that WWE should have found a way to include her on the show since this is the 20th anniversary weekend of the 9/11 attacks. Her father was one of the buildings on 9/11/01.
