Tuesday’s SmackDown Live saw Owens getting fired from his job by Shane McMahon after the main event of the show. This is where Owens served as the special guest referee for the semi-final King of the Ring match between McMahon and Chad Gable.
After Gable beat McMahon twice to advance in the tournament, McMahon fired him. Obviously, this is all in storyline and Owens wasn’t really released.
This came after McMahon made him the referee as part of a deal where he would revoke the $100,000 fine if Owens helped him win the match.
Owens took to his official Twitter account where he posted the numbers “14-24-20.” By using corresponding letters in the alphabet, the numbers can be converted to NXT.
With NXT moving to the USA Network starting next week, this has sparked rumors of him potentially appearing on the show. This would be a great surprise if he did appear on the show as he’s a former NXT Champion.
