Kevin Owens took to social media today to provide fans with a much-anticipated update on the neck injury that has kept him out of WWE action. The former Universal Champion clarified his current status, revealing that key decisions regarding his treatment are still pending.
In a video message, Owens directly addressed the situation, stating that he has not yet undergone surgery for the injury that forced him to withdraw from a planned match against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41 earlier this year. He explained that the process of determining the best course of action is ongoing.
“So, first, we don’t have a surgery date yet,” Owens stated. “I have not had surgery yet, despite reports that are contrary. We’re still gonna try and figure out what the best way to go about it all is, exactly what needs to be done. So we’re kind of figuring that out still.”

The popular WWE Superstar expressed the current state of uncertainty surrounding his condition but remains optimistic about gaining a clearer picture in the near future. “So, there’s a lot of uncertainty but hopefully in the next few weeks, we get clarity and we do the surgery and then we go from there,” Owens added.
Later in the video, Owens candidly shared his current perspective on the injury itself, saying, “I don’t know what’s happening with my neck. So, we’ll figure it out.” This straightforward admission highlights the complexities involved in diagnosing and treating serious neck injuries in professional wrestling.
Coincidentally, Owens’ update came on a significant date in his career: the tenth anniversary of his impactful WWE main roster debut. On May 18, 2015, then-NXT Champion Kevin Owens confronted John Cena, setting the stage for a memorable feud. Reflecting on this milestone, Owens acknowledged his current frustrations but also expressed deep gratitude for his career.
“This morning I was reminded that 10 years ago today I showed up on Raw for the first time to answer John Cena’s Open Challenge. And that night changed my life forever, changed my career,” Owens recalled. “Now 10 years later, I’m not where I want to be because I wish I was in the ring performing, having matches, contributing. That’s not the case, unfortunately, because of this neck injury. But still, I have to say the last 10 years have been just so amazing. So many amazing moments in the ring, out of the ring, so many amazing people that I’ve had the chance to get to know. I’m just so grateful for all of it.”
While no definitive timeline for his return has been established, previous reports in April suggested that WWE officials were not expecting Owens back in action for the remainder of 2025, and there was concern he might also miss next year’s WrestleMania. For now, fans and the wrestling world await further updates as Kevin Owens navigates his recovery process.
