Kit Wilson has provided an update regarding his tag team partner, Elton Prince. While Wilson has recently started on a solo run as the “Limited Edition” character on SmackDown, the status of the other half of Pretty Deadly has been a major question mark for fans. In a new interview with Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Wilson revealed the severity of the situation, confirming that Prince recently underwent neck fusion surgery at just 28 years old.
The injury occurred during a match where Prince took a reverse DDT that went wrong. Wilson described the terrifying moment he realized something was serious. “He took a reverse DDT, and I think I was in it as well… I think he just landed wrong, and he says he felt a certain kind of shock, and then he didn’t feel anything,” Wilson explained. He noted that re-watching the footage is difficult because you can see Prince’s fingers curl up, a tell-tale sign of nerve trauma. despite the injury and significant bleeding from a separate cut, Prince attempted to continue the match, prompting Wilson to intervene physically.
“I’m just screaming get down. Get down. Get down,” Wilson recalled. “Because we were in a position I think I was going to electric chair him… Then I just realized something was up. So I just said, ‘Get down… Get down.’ And then I think I powerbombed Nathan Frazer at the time, and then he was out for the rest of the match.”
Regarding the specific medical procedure, Wilson confirmed the gravity of the operation. “Surgery happened… He’s got a double [fusion]. At 28 years old,” Wilson stated. While the surgery was successful, the recovery process for a neck fusion is significant. Wilson noted that it has been about two weeks since the procedure and that everything is currently on track, though the situation remains delicate. “It’s just a touch-and-go situation. It’s the neck. So it’s such a specialist area that I think we’re just kind of taking it day by day. But he is doing good, which is fantastic.”
