LA Knight has admitted to experiencing “frustrations” during his current run with the Stamford-based promotion. Despite being one of the most popular babyface stars on the roster for the past three years, Knight has yet to capture a world championship or be consistently positioned as the top face of the company. Speaking on ESPN SportsCenter, Knight was asked if he is still having fun with his career, given his current standing.
“It’s a good time. There’s definitely frustrations here and there. You can’t be in something you love and not from time to time…passion is sometimes full of anger. There’s no way not to have a little bit of that in there. But as far as what we’re doing and as far as what I’m doing, it’s been a hell of a run, it’s been a hell of a ride. I’m having fun where I can pick my spots. It’s just trying to unplug when I actually have the chance to go home and be at home and enjoy that time,” Knight said.
The “Megastar” noted that reaching the main event level at WrestleMania 42 is a goal he feels is long overdue given his 23-year journey in the business. Knight previously defeated AJ Styles at WrestleMania 40 but suffered a loss to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 41. He remains determined to prove that his hard work, blood, sweat, and tears have paid off by securing the industry’s top prize in Las Vegas this spring.
Knight is scheduled to compete in the men’s Elimination Chamber match this Saturday, February 28, at the United Center in Chicago. He will join a field that includes Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans, and Jey Uso. The winner of the high-stakes encounter will earn the right to challenge Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium.
The landscape of SmackDown has shifted recently following the return of Brock Lesnar on the February 23 episode of RAW. While initial reports suggested Knight might face the “Beast” in Las Vegas, the current focus for both men appears to have shifted as the Road to WrestleMania enters its final stretch.
