The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) haven’t wrestled as a tag team on WWE TV since December 20, when they defended their NXT Tag Team Championships against Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs.
It was previously reported that Woods has been dealing with injuries, which is why they have been kept out of the ring. Kingston has mostly worked singles matches, although Woods and Kingston did work a recent loop of house shows against Pretty Deadly.
While speaking to Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, Kingston confirmed Woods is banged up.
Kingston noted Woods is “getting better and better every week,” and they are using this time to get him back to being 100 percent. “We are able to progress our storyline and let him rest and recover. He’ll be good in no time. He’s made a lot of progress already.”
WWE confirmed on this week’s NXT that New Day will defend their NXT Tag Team Championships against Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) and Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) at NXT Vengeance Day on February 4.
