Kofi Kingston on how he found out he would be replacing Mustafa Ali at Elimination Chamber

Kofi Kingston has opened up on the wild week that he has had in his career with the WWE that appears to be changing for the better.

It all started when it was revealed that he would be replacing Mustafa Ali in an Elimination Chamber Match. Moving along to the go-home Elimination Chamber episode of SmackDown Live, he worked the Gauntlet Match for an hour against the likes of WWE Champion Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Jeff Hardy.

Then, he went toe-to-toe with Bryan at the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on the WWE Network.WWE has already confirmed that W Bryan would make his next title defense against Kingston at the final pay-per-view event before WrestleMania 35 which is Fastlane.

Kingston was recently a guest on Edge & Christian’s Pod Of Awesomeness and during the interview, he shared the story about finding out that he’d been replacing Ali.

“As far as cardio is concerned, I don’t really do cardio. Once in a blue moon, I might get on the treadmill and walk briskly for like 20 minutes. Even saying that makes my skin crawl because I have to be on there for that long. For whatever reason, last Monday we were about to go to the house show and I said, ‘You know what? Let me jump on this elliptical,’ and I stayed on for an astounding 45 minutes. This is probably the longest cardio I’ve done in probably like 8 years, so that very night I get the text from Road Dogg saying, ‘Mustafa Ali is gonna be out. We’re gonna put you in this Gauntlet Match and we’re gonna put you in this [Elimination] Chamber, but first we’re gonna put you in this Gauntlet Match and you’re gonna be in there for over an hour. Are you OK with that?’ I obviously respond back, ‘Oh yeah, of course, it’s gonna be fine.’ As soon as I get off I’m like, ‘Oh my God, this is gonna be a long time”You can listen to the entire interview by clicking on the player below:
