Exclusive: Kofi Kingston was not WWE's original choice for the Men's Money In The Bank match

A couple of weeks ago, there was talk about Big E getting a push as a singles star. That does not necessarily mean that The New Day will break up but there are people in management that think Big E could eventually be a part of the top group of guys that rotate in and out of the WWE Championship picture.

On Sunday, Kofi Kingston was one of the competitors in the Men's Money In The Bank ladder match. However, Kingston was not the person in the original plans for the match. Big E was originally scheduled to be in the match and plans changed. I was told that the switch occurred a few days before the show.

On Tuesday, Big E competed in the gauntlet match to determine who would be the number 1 contender for the WWE Championship. Big E looked good when during his time in the ring with Daniel Bryan and it did not go unnoticed by management.

Big E apparently does not favor a break-up. In response to a fan on Twitter suggesting for WWE to break up The New Day, he jokingly said, "I don’t pester you to divorce your wife! Leave us be!"

However, that doesn't mean that they don't have aspirations to chase a singles title. Big E posted this shortly before the gauntlet match on Tuesday night:

Xavier Woods has been campaigning to get Kingston a world title. He said that it is his goal before his career wraps up.
