WWE has just announced that one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time, Kurt Angle, will be on NXT this coming Wednesday night.
Angle will be the special referee for the Cage Fight between Timothy Thatcher and Matt Riddle.
The Hall Of Famer was among the list of names released last month as part of budget cuts. It’s not clear yet if this will be a one-off appearance or if he is back with the company. Angle had been working behind-the-scenes as a producer since his retirement match.
Thatcher recently turned on Riddle after Thatcher replaced Pete Dunne, who is currently unable to travel to the United States.
Riddle then went on to beat Thatcher two weeks ago and that led to Thatcher calling for a match with the stipulation that the winner can only be declared after a knockout or tap out. Riddle then increased the stakes by suggesting for their match to be a Cage Fight.
WWE is hoping for a turnaround for NXT as ratings have declined during the pandemic.
