Kurt Angle spoke with Sky Sports on Friday to hype WrestleMania 35 weekend in New York City.
Angle said he went up to Vince McMahon a couple of months ago and said he wanted to retire this year because of how his body has been feeling. Angle also acknowledged that fans don’t want Baron Corbin to be his last opponent but he feels Corbin makes sense from a storyline perspective.
Angle revealed that he has signed a contract to remain with WWE in a backstage role. He said, “I signed a contract to help the younger talent behind the scenes. I will be on the road with the guys that make it up here. I’ll probably be an on-camera talent like a manager or maybe a general manager again. I’m sure they will want to utilize me on camera.”
Angle said he wanted to make that transition and he has a lot to give to the company. He noted that his new role will be on the main roster and not NXT.
Angle also gave his thoughts on Conor McGregor potentially appearing in WWE, what he wants to teach young talent, his canceled feud with Jason Jordan, women in the WrestleMania main event, why he turned down UFC in 2006 and 2010, who he would like to manage, and more.
