Kurt Angle: “It was almost a blessing in disguise that WWE released me”

Kurt Angle did an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to talk about a wide range of topics including his WWE departure.

The WWE Hall of Famer was among some of the producers who were furloughed by WWE back in April due to budget cuts.

As noted, WWE originally planned for the former WWE Champion to serve as Riddle’s manager when Riddle was called up to the main roster. In this interview, Angle gave more details as to why he turned down the offer.

“WWE offered me a job to manage Matt Riddle,” said Angle. “Unfortunately, I turned it down. I just have so much going with my business, Physically Fit Nutrition, and I need to make sure it succeeds before I do anything else.”

“I’m almost 100% I won’t wrestle again, but if I did, that’s the direction I would have went. I imagine WWE was going to go with me managing Riddle and then, eventually, probably a match between the two of us.”

Angle was asked whether he would return to the ring under the right circumstances. He stated that he can’t right now but his mind could be changed for two reasons.

“I’m working on my business, and I’ve been doing a lot of rehab on my body, trying to get myself back to where I’m able to live a healthy lifestyle. I’d been so banged up—my neck, my back, and my neck—but I’m making improvements. If I get to the point where I feel I can do it, then I’ll probably do it. But right now, I have to focus on my body.”

Angle is looking at his WWE departure as a producer as a good thing. The reason for that is due to his business, Physically Fit Nutrition, taking off and him needing to be there to help grow it.

“It was almost a blessing in disguise that WWE released me,” said Angle. “The business started picking up orders, and we’re at a point where I really need to be here.”

Angle continued by stating that they have chicken snacks called Chxn Snx and it will be their number seller because it will be available on Amazon in addition to convenience stores, health food stores, groceries, and bulk stores.

The pro wrestling legend also talked about Steve Austin, his new business, and more. You can read the full interview here.
