Kurt Angle Reveals He Is Holding Off Undergoing Another Surgery

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has provided an update on his physical health following numerous surgeries undertaken after years of in-ring competition took a toll on his body. Speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, Angle discussed the outcomes of several procedures. He revealed

that replacing both of his knees was highly beneficial. “Well, I had my knees replaced, and that was a blessing. No pain in my knees, they’re great,” Angle stated. However, his experience with back surgery was less successful. Angle found that a different approach ultimately provided relief. “I had surgery on my lower back, but that didn’t work at all,” he shared. “Then I started doing core training, and guess what? That worked, but not the surgery.”

Angle also revealed that he requires shoulder replacement surgery but is currently holding off on the procedure based on his doctor’s advice regarding its success rate and potential future medical advancements.

“But I have to have my shoulders replaced, and I’m not looking forward to that at all,” Angle said. “Actually, the doctor said to me, ‘Listen, these are 50/50. Some people benefit from it, some don’t.’ He told me, ‘You might want to hold off because with new technology, they’re going to find something better. I promise you, in the next couple of years, there will be some kind of improved method for shoulders, so you might want to just hang loose for a while.’”

Despite the surgeries and ongoing issues, Angle remains active in the gym but has adapted his training methods. “So I do what I can in the weight room. I can’t really lift heavy. I just go through the motions and keep my body in the best shape I can,” he explained. He noted that managing his weight is crucial for the longevity of his knee replacements. “And I have to keep my weight lower because of my knees. Put it this way, they’re supposed to last me 20 years, but if I gain weight and get heavy, they’ll only last me 10.”
