Kurt Angle recently appeared on The Statement Show to talk about various topics. During the interview, he was asked about wrestlers having more freedom in the Attitude Era compared to today’s era. Angle said that the Attitude Era guys had more leeway back then, and he wishes it was like that today, but WWE is more geared towards kids. He noted that back then they were geared towards young adults and that it worked extremely well. He added that he hasn’t seen a roster like the Attitude Era since then but that today’s WWE roster is pretty close.
When asked about Roman Reigns, Angle noted that Reigns is talented and he believes that no matter what people says. He said that you can’t deny that Reigns knows how to work. He noted that WWE didn’t want him to have to go through the wringer and win secondary titles but instead they just threw him into the main event picture and the fans didn’t like that. He noted that WWE was trying to push him faster then he should’ve been and that he’ll earn the respect of the fans but that it will take time. He said that it wasn’t a hard choice for Vince McMahon to pick Reigns and that’s why he continues to push him.
