Fans on Twitter have been getting on Lana’s case over a recent tweet where she stated that she is the one who started the women’s evolution/revolution in WWE. Hopefully, she is just playing up her heel character because there are other women that would disagree with her.
Some would say that it started in NXT in 2014 with the Charlotte Flair vs. Natalya match at the first NXT Takeover special but the changes on the main roster started after a match featuring The Bella Twins vs. Paige and Emma that lasted just 30 seconds. Fans complained on social media and that’s when the #GiveDivasAChance hashtag started. Later in that week, AJ Lee publicly criticized Stephanie McMahon on Twitter over the women not being treated as equals to men and she brought up that women get paid less than the men.
On July 13, 2015, Stephanie McMahon proclaimed that WWE was going through a women’s revolution and they eventually ditched the Divas title for the Women’s title at WrestleMania 32. It looks like women are going to be a bigger part of Smackdown Live and Vince McMahon has decided on who will be the face of the Smackdown brand. For more on that, click here.
