Latest on status of next year’s WWE Royal Rumble, COVID-19 strategy regarding fans

Next year’s WWE Royal Rumble event is getting closer, but the company has still announced a date and location for it.

Back in July, it was reported that the company was going to announce the details in August, but the announcement was delayed.

WrestleVotes reported on Wednesday that WWE does have a city in mind for next year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view event. Also, the company plans to have fans back in attendance at its shows before the event, which historically takes place in January.

You can see the full report here:

“Asked what the Royal Rumble location plans are: Learned that WWE has a city in mind & are looking to get back to live crowds prior to that. However, they are keeping an eye on what the NBA & NHL do for next season regarding fans and capacity levels.”

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company hasn’t had fans in attendance for their shows. It had been reported that Vince McMahon was very set on getting fans back to watch his shows live again for SummerSlam. That didn’t happen.

Instead, they moved to the Amway Center and put a bunch of screens around the ring in order to have fans appear through their webcams.

On the flip side, AEW has been able to have a limited amount of fans attend their shows, but are doing so with strict COVID-19 protocols in place and the shows are being held from Daily’s Place, which is an outdoor venue.
