There has been speculation as to whether Mickie James actually suffered an injury during her match on Monday Night Raw.
Of course, Asuka defended the Raw Women’s Title against the former WWE Women’s Champion on the show from the WWE ThunderDome last night.
Asuka had James in a submission hold, but the referee just ended the match with Asuka being victorious. Some fans thought the referee messed up while others were just confused by the whole incident and they weren’t alone as the announcers didn’t know what happened either.
Later that night, Mick Foley took to Twitter to note that he heard James might have suffered a shoulder injury, which caused the stoppage of the contest.
Bryan Alvarez noted on Twitter today that James isn’t injured. He wrote, “Mickie James is fine, the ref screwed up.”

It’s good to hear that James is okay as she just returned to action after recovering from an ACL injury. The pro wrestling veteran sort of gave her reaction to the finish of the match on Instagram.
WWE did give a storyline statement as to why the match was stopped early:
“Realizing that this could be her last chance at a championship, Mickie James left it all in the ring against The Empress of Tomorrow. But although Mickie James was ready for Asuka, Asuka was also ready for her. The Raw Women’s Champion locked on the Asuka Lock, and despite James’ best efforts to fight out, the referee ruled her unable to continue and awarded the match to Asuka.”
