Bryan Alvarez first reported on Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Live that not only will changes to NXT start this week, but also, WWE will be going back to a taping schedule for the brand instead of doing weekly live TV shows.
The original report noted that the tapings will be taking place next Monday and Tuesday from the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida. It’s still unclear whether WWE will be taping all episodes of NXT TV going forward or if this is a temporary move.
PWinsider.com provided more details on these tapings. At the Monday, August 23rd taping, they will film the Tuesday, August 24th episode. The following night, WWE will tape two episodes that will air on August 31st and September 7th. There’s no word yet on the dates of the next set of tapings.
Starting this Tuesday, a new logo along with changes to the lighting and format of the show will be introduced. WWE will hold the NXT TakeOver 36 special this Sunday night, which will be headlined by NXT Champion Karrion Kross vs. Samoa Joe.
WWE has reportedly decided to recruit and develop wrestlers who are younger and taller instead of the smaller and older wrestlers that fans have been used to seeing in NXT.
