A major match has been officially set for the upcoming Wrestlepalooza event following a tense in-ring segment on Monday Night Raw. The husband-and-wife duo of Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch will face CM Punk and AJ Lee in a mixed tag team match.
The segment began with AJ Lee in the ring holding the Intercontinental Championship, which she had taken from Becky Lynch at SmackDown. Lynch questioned the absence of CM Punk and made remarks about him “hiding behind his wife.” She said that her issue was with Lee for interfering in her business and then introduced Seth Rollins, whom she referred to as a real man and champion. Rollins demanded that Lee relinquish the title belt that was in her possession.
In response, AJ Lee presented two options. Lee said you can come get it or accept a mixed tag team match at Wrestlepalooza, pitting herself and CM Punk against Lynch and Rollins. Rollins immediately dismissed the proposal, stating that as the champion, he was the one who “called the shots” and that he would be entering the ring to take the title back for his wife.
As Rollins stepped through the ropes, Lee stood her ground over the championship belt. Moments later, CM Punk appeared in the ring and attempted to execute his signature finishing maneuver, the GTS, on Rollins. Rollins managed to escape the hold and exit the ring. Following the attack, an angered Rollins accepted Lee’s challenge for the mixed tag team match. The decision appeared to be made against the wishes of Becky Lynch, who showed visible disapproval.
With the match for Wrestlepalooza now verbally agreed upon by both sides, AJ Lee tossed the Intercontinental Championship belt out of the ring, allowing Becky Lynch to recover it.
