Legendary ring announcer Lilian Garcia has announced that she will not be able to perform her duties at tonight’s WWE Evolution premium live event. In a post on her personal Instagram account, Garcia revealed that she is dealing with the lingering effects of a respiratory infection.
A Last-Minute Change
Garcia explained that while she was able to announce Saturday Night’s Main Event last night, her voice did not hold up, forcing her to miss tonight’s show. “Life can definitely throw some unexpected twists and turns and unfortunately I’m at the receiving end of one of them,” she wrote. “I was so excited to be announcing @wwe Saturday Nights Main Event and @wwe Evolution this weekend but because of lingering effects of a respiratory infection I got some weeks ago, I was only able to announce SNME last night before my voice started wigging out.”
Listening to Her Body
While expressing her disappointment, Garcia emphasized the importance of prioritizing her health and shared a positive message for the performers on tonight’s show. “Biggest lesson I can share from this is that it’s ok to be disappointed (which I definitely am because I so badly wanted to announce these women to their respective matches) but also important to listen to your body and not push beyond its limits,” she stated. “For now, time to stay quiet and heal up for the next event!”
Garcia also announced who would be taking her place. “Grateful to my announce sista @aliciataylorwwe for stepping up to announce Evolution tonight and so excited to celebrate all the women involved,” she wrote.
Lilian Garcia, a WWE Hall of Famer, is one of the most recognizable voices in the history of the company. Her presence at the first Evolution event in 2018 was a memorable part of that historic show, making her absence from tonight’s sequel a notable one for fans.
