Former WCW announcer and current radio host Mark Madden is the guest this week on Jim Ross’ Ross Report. Madden and Ross talk about the current state of wrestling and some of the things that can be done to improve the product. Madden goes into the story about how Scott Hall pitched the idea of Sting becoming Crow Sting. Madden was very close to Brian Pillman and shares some good Pillman stories including one story with Pillman looking for his wife around town after his wife was reported missing. Madden noted that Pillman was a suspect in her disappearance. She turned up three weeks later and it turned out that she was out doing drugs with a couple of guys. Madden talked about being a newsletter writer and then getting a job in WCW. He said that Sting never acknowledged him until the end of his tenure in WCW. Madden talked about saving Ric Flair’s book and goes into detail on what was originally supposed to be in the book. Madden and Flair have been friends for years.
Ross and Madden also talk about The Undertaker, fantasy booking for Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32, Madden’s thoughts on whether TNA will survive past this year, and much more. I highly recommend this podcast even if you’re not a fan of Madden or if you don’t know who Madden is.
