Former WWE Women’s Champion Lita is one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of the business and one of the most popular stars the company has created. With such a career, some fans would’ve like to see her get a better send-off from being a full-time active competitor.
Lita would agree with that mindset and even attempted to get it changed by the WWE as she disclosed the behind-the-scenes details regarding this situation. She lost her retirement match to Mickie James at the Survivor Series pay-per-view event back in 2006. Following the match, WWE sent out Shad Gaspard & JTG to the ring with a “ho sale” auctioning off Lita’s clothes and property.
By doing this angle, there were many fans that it was a bad way to celebrate the career and legacy of Lita who was one of WWE’s pioneering female talents. The WWE Hall of Famer talked about how she wanted to change the angle alongside her longtime friend Trish Stratus while doing an interview with Ring The Belle.
“I mean, I’ve always been the red-headed step child and it was not gonna end any different way. I was literally the red-headed, step child. It’s ok,” Lita said with a chuckle. “I never was quiet about it. I was super uncool with it. I went up the chain. I went to the producers, I went to the writers, I went to Vince, I went back to the producers, back to the writers, back to Vince. It was a hard, ‘no’.”
