Lita has revealed that she unknowingly suffered a broken back during her full-time wrestling career. The WWE Hall of Famer spent eight years as a full-time competitor, dealing with numerous injuries along the way.
Speaking to the Toronto Sun, Lita detailed a specific doctor’s visit where the injury was discovered. She explained that she sought medical attention due to lower back pain, only to be surprised by the diagnosis.
“I had times when it was really bothering me. I mean, even when I was actively competing. I remember my lower back, I went in because it was bothering me and the doctor said, ‘Well, when did you break your back?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know’ and they’re like, ‘Yeah, I’m seeing here on the X-ray, you’ve broken your back’ so, at some point I’d broken my back and just kept going and that might have been why it was hurting me, and I had some issues with that,” Lita said.
Prioritizing Health
Since retiring from full-time competition, Lita has focused on her physical health. She noted that observing the physical toll wrestling has taken on her peers serves as a daily reminder of what she endured.
“I’ve really prioritized feeling good and having my body feel good in my post-full-time career. Because I do see so many of my former co-workers and other legends and it just reminds me every day what I put my body through but I will say, gosh, the regenerative power that your body does have, but, you do have to give it the opportunity to heal, which I have and just really prioritize and I’m so thankful that I do feel good now and wake up most days feeling awesome and I’m thankful for it every day.”
Lita last competed at WrestleMania 39, teaming with Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus. In the same interview, she stated that she is not ruling out a potential return to the ring.
