Liv Morgan has fired back at Stephanie Vaquer ahead of their WWE Women’s World Championship match at WrestleMania 42, saying Vaquer would not have survived twelve years in WWE the way Morgan has. Speaking with Brad Gilmore, Morgan addressed comments Vaquer had made about Morgan having the best resources available throughout her career and turned the argument around on her WrestleMania opponent.
“I think about the journey every single Monday that I’m at Raw, and I’m proud of my journey,” Morgan said. “I feel like it’s so much sweeter because it was on my time and I did it my way, and I’ve always honored and stayed true to myself the entire time. It’s funny because Stephanie says, you had the best of the best for your whole career, which is true, but the flip side of that is, Stephanie, there’s no way she would have lasted 12 years in WWE. She would have been gone.”
Morgan won the Women’s Royal Rumble match earlier this year to earn her title shot and has been feuding with Vaquer since. The program has been built around a contrast between Vaquer’s international pedigree and Morgan’s decade-plus journey through the WWE system, with both women taking shots at each other in and out of the ring.
Morgan made her WWE debut in 2017 and has spent the entirety of her main roster career with the company, navigating various gimmick changes and storyline directions before breaking through to the top of the card. She is a former SmackDown Women’s Champion and held the World Women’s Championship as well.
Vaquer joined WWE from the international wrestling scene after establishing herself as one of the top female performers in Mexico and Japan. She made an impact quickly after debuting on the main roster, capturing the WWE Women’s World Championship and positioning herself as one of the brand’s top stars.
It should be noted that Morgan is talking in character. WrestleMania 42 takes place April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
