Lyra Valkyria Details How ACL Tear Halted Potential NXT UK Title Match

WWE Superstar Lyra Valkyria recently shared details about a major injury setback early in her NXT UK career that left her wondering “what if?” Speaking on “Insight with Chris Van Vliet,” Valkyria identified tearing her ACL as a moment when big plans seemed to fall apart.

“A point where I was on the cusp of something and then it all fell flat was when I tore my ACL in NXT UK,” she stated. “I was on the road to coming back to another match with Meiko Satomura, who was the NXT UK Women’s Champion at the time, and my whole world was who’s going to be the one to beat Meiko? The talk of the locker room… she was the ultimate champion.”

Valkyria revealed she didn’t initially understand the seriousness of a torn ACL, having never had bad injuries before. The news was a shock: “They were like, ‘Yeah, you’re going to be out for like nine months to a year.’ I couldn’t believe it… There was tears rolling down my face, and I was like, I can’t be out for a year.” However, she now views the experience as formative: “When you’re out… it makes you appreciate everything so much more. It kind of just refreshes your work ethic and your drive… I feel like that injury really helped me… it just made me tougher.”
