As part of WWE’s plan to help boost NXT into a viable third brand, the company is moving more main roster stars to that brand.
Baron Corbin was moved back to NXT a few weeks ago and he has dropped the comedy aspects of his character. He’s back to being the serious Lone Wolf guy that fans were introduced to years ago. Last night on NXT, they aired a video where Corbin talks about no longer doing gimmicks and that he’s done with the BS and nonsense.
The video appeared to confirm that Corbin will be sticking around and Dave Meltzer confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio that he’s now part of the brand full-time. Meltzer said, “He’s a regular now in NXT and there’s going to be more people like that”
Over the last few years, WWE has tried out different gimmicks and storylines for Corbin. He was King Corbin and was pushed as a strong heel in 2019 during his feud with Roman Reings. The company tried to repackage him as a rich guy alongside Madcap Moss and last year they paired him with JBL. That was dropped several months back and during the WWE Draft he went undrafted.
