We’ve been reporting for months about major changes coming to the WWE Network.
On today’s WWE conference call, Vince McMahon talked about a relaunch for the network coming later this year. The plan is to launch on a new platform and the company has been looking at a tiered pricing structure.
The tiered structure would include a free plan that would include commercials and a limited amount of content. The highest structure that has been discussed for over a year would include content from other promotions. These details were not discussed today but they have talked about this in previous quarterly conference calls and fan surveys.
Also, one of the ideas being discussed is doing specials on Saturday nights from live events, similar to what they did on Sunday night for Dean Ambrose’s final match with the company.
Another thing that has been discussed is downloadable content for the subscribers on the higher tier. It would be similar to Netflix where you can download On Demand content within the app and watch it without an internet connection.
WWE Co-President George Barrios promised that the new WWE Network platform would have things the fans have been asking for.
I was told to expect a brand new interface that would be more user-friendly.
