The online speculation seems to be accurate because a major name is returning this Monday night on Raw.
WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is reportedly planned for a return to WWE television. According to a report first published on Bodyslam.net’s Patreon, there are plans for the former World Champion to be factored into creative, potentially to kickstart the program for his final retirement match.
The report from Bodyslam.net’s Viper states, “Goldberg is reportedly planned to return next week on Monday Night Raw, guessing he will be coming for Gunther, as expected months back.”
This speculation aligns with a previous interaction between the two superstars and Goldberg’s publicly stated desire to have one last match this year. A feud between Goldberg and Gunther has been expected by fans since the two had a memorable face-to-face confrontation at the Bad Blood PLE in 2024.
Gunther won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Jey Uso this past Monday on Raw. Goldberg recently stated on his “CarCast” podcast that he knows the date for his retirement match and has been training through injuries to prepare, with a summer event heavily speculated. The next Saturday Night’s Main Event is scheduled to take place in Atlanta, Goldberg’s hometown.
This Monday on Raw, the company will also be building towards the Night of Champions show in Saudi Arabia and WWE Evolution, happening on the same weekend as SNME. As announced earlier today, WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella will also be returning on the June 16th broadcast with a special message, likely to build towards the all-women’s “Evolution” PLE.
