Major spoiler on WWE’s plans for Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle

This Friday Night on SmackDown, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will celebrate 2 years as champion but his days as champion may be coming to an end.

WrestleVotes is reporting that there have been discussions about Reigns dropping one or both titles. The wording by WrestleVotes was “title(s)” so that implies that it’s possible that he could somehow only lose one title.

WrestleVotes tweeted, “For the first time in a long time, there has been some discussions creatively regarding Roman Reigns dropping the title(s). I’m hearing multiple ideas have intrigued those making the final call come Saturday in Cardiff. Should be an interesting week ahead…”

WWE has pushed Reigns as one of the greatest champions of all-time and the idea was to make him stronger than he’s ever been for his match with The Rock at WrestleMania. Back when Reigns unified the titles earlier this year at WrestleMania, the idea was always to split the WWE and Universal Titles, which is why Reigns still holds both belts and the company never created a new title so the idea here may be to get one belt off of him so that McIntyre can defend at the live events and pay-per-view events.

The other reason why WWE would want to have McIntyre win is that they want the returning hometown (sort of) hero to close out the show with a title celebration. We’ll see if WWE sticks to plans on having a title change this Saturday. In the previous McMahon regime, plans would change several times throughout the week but if the current plan is for McIntyre to win a title(s) then that idea is less likely to change under Triple H.
