Major UFC star wants to go to WWE

Rashad Evans has inquired recently about going to WWE. Evans, 34, is currently recovering from a major knee surgery and was talking about retirement. His name (in regards to guys looking at WWE as a future destination) has been brought up for years. There’s no word if he’s talked to anyone directly in WWE but he did talk to people over the weekend that are in the wrestling business about the idea of going to WWE.

There had been talks over the years from fighters such as Chael Sonnen, Shayna Baszler, Roy Nelson, and Frank Mir trying to open up talks with WWE. Vince McMahon is leery about using former MMA stars (particularly big fighters) since the big names are used to big payoffs for shows and Vince doesn’t think they could survive the grueling schedule. Some of those feelings come the failed negotiations that they had with Bob Sapp a few years ago. McMahon wanted to sign him but the money and schedule put an end to those talks. Also, Vince knows nothing about the UFC scene.

There is some smoke to the fire with Chael Sonnen though since there are people in WWE who throw around ideas for him but the impression given is that any interest in him would be as an announcer but it wouldn’t happen anytime soon because of the controversy surrounding him right now.
