Man who allegedly tried to kidnap Sonya Deville has been found incompetent to stand trial

Wrestling Inc reports that Phillip A. Thomas II, the man accused of stalking and trying to kidnap WWE star Sonya Deville, has been found incompetent to stand trial. Now, he is awaiting transfer to Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida.

According to police, Thomas traveled from South Carolina to Sonya Deville’s home last summer after spending several months planning to kidnap her. He gained entry into the house through a patio screen but fortunately, Deville managed to leave the house without being harmed. Mandy Rose was at the home at the time of the incident.

Thomas was carrying a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, mace, and other personal items and police say he admitted that he planned on taking Deville hostage. He was arrested and charged with Aggravated Stalking, Armed Burglary of a Dwelling, Attempted Armed Kidnapping, and Criminal Mischief.

Deville had her temporary protection injunction against Thomas extended just last week with the next protection hearing scheduled for October 7th.

Deville took time off after the alleged attempted kidnapping but returned this past January where she’s since been used as an on-air authority figure alongside Adam Pearce.
