WWE has wrapped up several weeks of TV tapings that will carry them through the Raw after WrestleMania but, as noted last week, there were several people in the company who would have preferred for Vince McMahon to postpone Mania.
During a PWInsider Elite audio update, Mike Johnson indicated that there is only one person in the company that feels like a taped WrestleMania from the Performance Center is a good idea. That person would be Vince McMahon.
“I can confirm after speaking to dozens of people in the company,” Johnson said. “I’m talking wrestlers, behind the scenes people, whatever, there is only one person who felt that they should have went forward with WrestleMania and that’s why they’re going forward with WrestleMania and that’s Vince.”
Reports of unhappiness on the roster about Mania plans were also confirmed last week by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. Dave Meltzer noted last week that the reason why McMahon decided to move forward with a taped WrestleMania at the PC is that there is so much uncertainty and there’s no way to know when they will be able to do shows in front of fans again.
WWE could have moved the show to June (June 7th was a date that was rumored among the wrestlers) but there is no guarantee that travel restrictions would be lifted by that time. Furthermore, Mania being held in June or July would put them closer to SummerSlam and postponing the show would force them to stretch out storylines if they plan on continuing to tape Raw at the Performance Center.
