Mariah May Has Signed A Multi-Year WWE Deal, Backstage Details On NXT Debut

According to a report from Fightful Select, former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May has officially signed a multi-year contract with WWE and made her debut on the NXT brand.

This move had been expected by many within AEW for several months, especially as May was reportedly making preparations for life after her AEW contract. WWE kept the specifics of her NXT debut “very quiet as to not leak,” with Fightful Select noting that “a very tight circle knew ‘officially’ that May was on board ahead of time.

The plan for a while has been for her on NXT.” Talent in the Gorilla Position were reportedly informed “just before the segment started.” May was removed from AEW’s roster page on May 31st, though her contract officially ended at the start of June.

AEW was reportedly interested in retaining her, and sources indicated “she departed on bad terms” was not the prevailing thought. Regarding her name, NXT did not mention it during her debut segment. However, Fightful reports there should be “no issues with her using Mariah May as a name, as it’s believed to be her shoot name,” which she has used for years, unlike past WWE situations with names like Ricky Starks.
