Mark Henry Says The Time For Roman Reigns Vs. The Rock Has Passed

On a recent episode of TMZ Inside The Ring, Mark Henry called The Bloodline saga “the greatest” storyline in wrestling and offered his own creative pitch for the next chapter in Roman Reigns’ character arc. The WWE Hall of Famer also stated that he believes the window for a match between Reigns and The Rock has closed.

When asked if he wanted to see Roman Reigns vs. The Rock, Henry was clear. “I did when it was before WrestleMania two years ago, but not now,” he said. Instead of another match with The Rock, Henry pitched a babyface turn for Reigns, rooted in the established lore of their Samoan dynasty.

“The family has got to make him the champion,” he began. “There was a different route with the Bloodline than I’d suggested… The Rock is really the Tribal Chief. He’s the descendant of Peter Maivia, and he’s had the ‘Ula Fala put on his neck by the high chiefs. So, if anything, now he should inspire not to just be the Tribal Chief, but he should want to be the chief of all chiefs… and he needs the support and the respect of his family, not the fear. And you make him a babyface. Now it would fit like a glove.”

The Bloodline storyline had been the central focus of WWE for the past several years. Following his historic championship loss at WrestleMania 40, Roman Reigns took a lengthy hiatus from the company before coming back at SummerSlam as a babyface. He would feud with the new de facto leader of The Bloodline, Solo Sikoa, kickstarting the next phase of the program that ended this past January.
