CM Punk has posted photographs from U.S. Bank Stadium that list tonight’s Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes as a Street Fight.
Punk shared the images to his Instagram stories on Saturday. The chairs shown carry the match billing, with the Street Fight stipulation attached to the title match.
WWE has not announced any stipulation. The company’s own match listing still bills it as a straight championship defence, and nothing was said about a gimmick on Friday’s SmackDown or at the SummerSlam Kickoff event that made the match official. At present the only indication of a change is what Punk posted.
Rhodes has been here before. He beat John Cena for the same title in a Street Fight in the main event of SummerSlam 2025 at MetLife Stadium, so the stipulation and the championship have been paired at this event as recently as last year.
Punk won the title on the July 6 Raw in Chicago. Rhodes had been scheduled to face Sami Zayn for it that night in a rematch after losing the championship at Night of Champions, but Gunther attacked him backstage before the show and left him unable to compete. Punk came out as the replacement challenger and beat Zayn, ending Zayn’s reign at nine days.
Paul Levesque made Punk against Rhodes official at the SummerSlam Kickoff event at Fanatics Fest on July 19, following a backstage confrontation between the two at Saturday Night’s Main Event that WWE later pulled from its social accounts. The pair traded punches again on the July 31 SmackDown, the final television show before the event.
The match closes night one of SummerSlam, which begins at 6 p.m. ET from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
