We are sad to report that Matt Cappotelli has passed away after a long battle with brain cancer at just 38 years old.
Many people in WWE believed that Cappotelli would be a huge star in the wrestling business after winning the third season of Tough Enough alongside John Hennigan (John Morrison). Cappotelli was signed to a developmental contract with Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2004 but his career came to a halt in 2006 when he learned that he would have to undergo surgery for brain cancer. WWE later reported that the surgery was a success but in 2017, Cappotelli announced that the cancer returned and he was diagnosed with grade IV glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive cancer that starts in the brain.
Sadly, the cancer had progressed to the point that the decision was made that medical treatments would be stopped as of May 2018.
The news of his passing first broke via his wife's Facebook page. On behalf of everyone here at wrestlingnews.co, we send our condolences to his friends and family.
