On his Extreme Life podcast, TNA veteran Matt Hardy discussed the recent TNA invasion angle on WWE NXT, playfully claiming to be the mastermind behind the entire operation. He also confirmed that he and his brother Jeff will be part of the impending “full-on war” between the two promotions.
When asked about his and Jeff’s absence from the initial invasion, Hardy claimed it was by design. “I am more of the puppet master. I’m the guy that was pulling the strings. This is what needs to happen next. And then the bigger boss will enter the fight,” he said. When the host suggested the invasion was his “brain job,” Hardy agreed, saying, “The TNA invasion in NXT is happening because of Matt Hardy. Run that, please.”
He assured fans that the current TNA World Tag Team Champions will get involved as the story progresses. “If this is going to be a full-on war, we’re definitely going to be there,” he confirmed. “Jeff and I are very proud to be locker room leaders in TNA.”
Hardy also clarified where his loyalties lie, noting a distinction between NXT and the WWE main roster. “Especially when it comes to NXT. I don’t have many ties to NXT. So, I would much more prefer TNA,” he stated. “Now, if we had to go to the main roster, that’d be a little different. TNA and WWE, I would say we consider those two our home.”
The TNA invasion took place on the September 23, 2025, episode of WWE NXT, when several top TNA stars attacked NXT talent at the close of the show. The angle was done during match between TNA World Champion Oba Femi and NXT Champion Trick Williams.
