The Hardy Boyz found themselves battling against each other on Raw this week in a six-pack challenge to determine the new #1 contender for the IC Title. The Miz got his way and inserted Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel which meant the match consisted of two established teams, Elias, and Jason Jordan.
Jordan would wind up winning the match but there was a point where Matt and Jeff Hardy squared off in the ring and prepared to do battle. The two scrapped a little bit but it was nothing compared to their previous wars. However, it was a nice taste to wet the WWE Universe’s appetite for a potential future Hardy brothers feud.
Although the team still appears to be together, Matt Hardy later pontificated about the events of the six-pack challenge and had a rather amusing observation. Matt said his brother Jeff was “being a bit of a Brother Nero” during the match.
It’s interesting how The Hardy Boyz seem to make great strides toward a new gimmick on social media and the next time we see them on Raw, they’ve dialed it back to their former personalities.
Perhaps there could be even more hints of their previous personas before something actually happens on WWE television. But in the meantime, it’s pretty awesome Matt Hardy feels comfortable enough in their position of ownership of the Brother Nero name to drop it like this. After all, Jeff’s real middle name is Nero so that’s a fight they’re more likely to win.
