Matt Hardy was working as a producer for WWE backstage over the weekend at SummerSlam. Last week news broke that Hardy will be taking a significant amount of time off from in-ring work to heal up some nagging injuries. His health is expected to be reevaluated at some point later this year.
There’s currently been no announcement of retirement, however, Wrestling Observer Newsletter has noted that Hardy’s in-ring future is in doubt. It looks like Hardy is preparing for the next phase of his professional wrestling career. Hardy was shadowing WWE producers at SumerSlam to learn the ropes.
Hardy posted a few Tweets while backstage at the pay-per-view, explaining that it was odd being a part of SummerSlam in a different capacity. He also shared a photo of himself with WWE broadcaster Mike Rome:
It’s quite strange to be at @WWE @SummerSlam in a different capacity. pic.twitter.com/wXNF18j9M6

Yesterday Hardy posted another photo of himself backstage at SummerSlam. He admitted that he produced content for the show and also babysat his two young boys:
I absolutely LOVE this behind the scenes @WWE Summerslam photo. Producing content AND babysitting at the same time. pic.twitter.com/HRrKOFgrpj
